Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress the increase of the internal resistance caused at the last stage of an organic electrolyte battery, which contains lithium used as a negative active material and a metal sulfide used as a main positive active material, by interposing an electrolyte holding body between a separator and a negative lithium plate. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 1 containing iron sulfide used as a positive active material is held with an annular seat 7, and is installed in a positive can 4. After that, a negative lithium plate 2 packed into a negative can 5 by being held with a net 6 is placed over the positive electrode 1, with a separator 3 and an electrolyte holding body 9 interposed between the electrode 1 and the plate 2, thereby constituting an organic electrolyte battery. Owing to the above constitution, when the amount of lithium decreases as discharge proceeds, and voluminal increase of the electrode 1 presses the separator 3 upward, the electrolyte holding body 9 is pressed upward together with the negative lithium plate 2. Consequently, the surface of the lithium plate 2 doesn't become lacking in electrolyte even at the last stage of the discharge, and the discharge capacity of the battery can be increased by suppressing the increase of the internal resistance of the battery.
