Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the internal resistance of a non-aqueous electrolyte battery, and decrease the time change rate of the battery by interposing a porous separator, which has a given thickness and a given amount per area, between the positive and the negative electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A positive mixture 6, which is made of manganese oxide, iron sulfide, copper oxide or the like and is packed into a positive can 1, and a negative active material 5, which is made of lithium, sodium or the like and is packed into a negative can 2, are separated with a porous separator 7. The porous separator 7 is prepared from a non-woven polypropylene fabric or the like which has a thickness of 60-300mum and an amount per area of 20-100g/m<2>. The use of the separator 7 reduces the internal resistance of a non-aqueous electrolyte battery, and enhance the reliability of the battery by decreasing the time change of the battery.
