Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the condensing efficiency of the light emitted from a light emitting element in the upward direction of the light by forming the resin surface of resin integrating the light emitting element and a condensing lens in a curved surface in the vicinity of the tangential plane of the lower curved surface of the lens. CONSTITUTION:A projection 4a is formed on a stem 4, a semiconductor light emitting element 1 and a condensing lens 2 are arranged on the projection 4a, and are integrated with resin 3. The shape of the resin 3 is so formed as to be tangential curved surface with respect to the curved surface of the lower surface of the lens 2, thereby totally reflecting the emitted light 5 toward the end and condensing into the lens 2. When the ratio R/L of the radius R of the curvature of the lens 2 to the diagonal length L of the light emitting element 1 increases, the emitted light incident to the resin surface tends to be totally reflected, thereby enhancing the incident efficiency to the lens 2.
