Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a semiconductor light-emitting device with a narrow emitting angle, by directly positioning and fixing a lens in the last stage.
CONSTITUTION: A very small amount of ultra-violet-ray hardened resin 9 is applied on an end surface 8 of a resonator of a semiconductor laser chip 7. A spherical-glass lens 10 is statically attached to the center of a glass disk 11, and the light-emitting portion of the resonator-end surface 8 of the chip 7 is coincided with the light axis of the lens 10. The lens is approached to the end surface 8 along the light axis and contacted with the resin 9. An ultra-violet ray is illuminated from the back surface of the disk 11, to the other surface of which the lens is attached, along the light axis, and the resin 9 is hardened. Then, the disk 11 which is not reguired any more is removed, thereby the complete spherical-lens semiconductor laser can be obtained.
