Abstract
PURPOSE:To cool the cooling water effectively without causing a deficiency in the amount of heat radiated from a heater core, by a method wherein the temperature control for the cooling water passed through water jackets individually provided for a cylider block and a cylinder head is carried out after completing an warm-up operation. CONSTITUTION:When the temperature of the cooling water reaches or exceeds the first temperature (for example, 80 deg.C) and the warm-up is completed, a control valve 14 is opened, while a control valve 15 is closed, and a control valve 30 is opened irrespectively of the output from a heater ON-OFF sensor 34 for the heater core provided for heating the interior of a vehicle. As a result, the cooling water flowing through the water jacket 4 for the cylinder head 2 is cooled to an extent corresponding to the maximum cooling capacity of a radiator 18. Next, when the heater is ON and the temperature of the cooling water detected by a water-temperature sensor 31 becomes equal to or lower than the third temperature sensor 31 becomes equal to or lower than the third temperature (for example, 60 deg.C), the control valve 30 is closed by a controller 33. When the temperature of the cooling water becomes equal to or higher than the second temperature (for example, 95 deg.C), the control valves 15, 30 are opened and the whole amount of the cooling water is cooled by the radiator 18.
