Abstract

PURPOSE:To cool the cooling water effectively without causing a deficiency in the amount of heat radiated from a heater core, by a method wherein the temperature control for the cooling water passed through water jackets individually provided for a cylider block and a cylinder head is carried out after completing an warm-up operation. CONSTITUTION:When the temperature of the cooling water reaches or exceeds the first temperature (for example, 80 deg.C) and the warm-up is completed, a control valve 14 is opened, while a control valve 15 is closed, and a control valve 30 is opened irrespectively of the output from a heater ON-OFF sensor 34 for the heater core provided for heating the interior of a vehicle. As a result, the cooling water flowing through the water jacket 4 for the cylinder head 2 is cooled to an extent corresponding to the maximum cooling capacity of a radiator 18.
