Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a picture display without nonuniformity by forming a stanchion with height in correspondence to a prescribed gap on a glass electrode substrate with an electric insulator and by making a gap between a semiconductor substrate and said substrate uniform with the stanchion for joining. CONSTITUTION:A transparent electrode 14 is formed on a glass electrode substrate 14, and on the electrode stanchion 26 having height H corresponding the prescribed thickness of a liquid crystal layer 16 is formed with screen printing using epoxy synthetic resin or glass. Adhesives 19 for sealing are then prepared at height h(h> H) with the same screen printing. Further, with the prebaked adhesives 19, the electrode plate 14 is press-adhered according to a pattern processed with integration of a silicon substrate 13, and the stanchion 26 is adhered similarly with adjustment to proper height of a surface layer 18. With the stanchion 26 and the adhesives 19, the same materials may be used and may be printed simultaneously. An orientation treatment for the substrate 14 is better to be done before printing of stanchion. Further by injecting a liquid crystal 16, an inlet 21 for injection is sealed. Thus a panel with a uniform gap in the liquid crystal layer 16 and without nonuniformity in display is obtained.
