Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a unit which is superior in uniformity of the gap and has good airtight and adhesion properties by using the epoxy adhesive with glass beads mixed as the sealing agent for sealing of the peripheral part of the display cell.
CONSTITUTION: In the electrochromic (EC) display unit formed by sealing an electrolyte between the display-side substrate provided with a patterned transparent electrode and the back-side substrate provided with a counter electrode and by sealing the peripheral part, a sealing agent consisting of epoxy resin 9 where glass beads 8 having a uniform particle size are mixed is used. That is, a stencil screen having meshes selected according to the size of glass beads (for example, a screen of approximately 60 meshes for 200μ glass beads particle diameter) is used to print and apply said sealing agent onto a prescribed position of the peripheral parts of substrates, and both substrates are press-stuck and sealed by adhesion.
