Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a regenerated celulose molding excellent in whiteness and stable to light, heat, etc., by treating, with an aqueous alkali solution, a cellulose molding prepared by coagulating and regenerating a cellulose-containing solution and then washing the treated molding with water.
CONSTITUTION: A cellulose molding prepared by coagulating and regenerating a cellulose-containing solution is treated with an aqueous alkali solution of 1/104W 1/10mol/l concentration at 40W100°C (in case where the molding is not dried) or with an aqueous alkali solution of 3/102W8/10mol/l concentration at 40W 100°C (in case where the molding is dried). Then, the molding is washed with water. Almost no improvement in resistance to yellowing due to heat, light, etc., is observed when the alkali concentration in case where the molding is not dried is below 1/104mol/l, whereas when the concentration exceeds 1/10mol/l, the stability to light, heat, radiation, etc., is adversely affected or the polymerization degree of cellulose is lowered.
