Abstract

PURPOSE:To utitlize the exhaust gas energy to the maximum limit by controlling the output of a shipboard generator driven by an AC motor energized through a frequency converter from the output of an axial generator driven by a main engine in response to the insufficient power of an exhaust gas turbine generator. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust gas economizer 3 recovers the heat of exhaust gas 2 of a main propelling diesel engine 1 and supplies it to a steam turbine 7 for driving a turbine generator 9. The propelling shaft 10 of the engine 1 is connected to an axial generator 14 through an accelerating gear 12. The output of the generator 14 is supplied to an AC motor 16 for driving a shipboard generator 17 through a thyristor frequency converter and a controller 15. A turbine generator generation power insufficient detector 20 detects the lack of the generated power of the generator 9 and controls the thyristor frequency converter and the controller 15.
