Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an AC power of prescribed frequency without necessity of phase regulator by supplying the output of an axial generator driven by a main propulsion engine through a frequency converter to an AC motor for driving a shipboard generator. CONSTITUTION:The propeller shaft 2 of a main propelling engine 1 is connected to the drive shaft 5 of an axial AC generator 6 through an accelerating gear 4. The output of the generator 6 is converted to the prescribed frequency AC by a thyristor frequency converter 7, and is then supplied to an AC motor 8 for driving a shipboard generator 9. In this manner, an inexpensive shipboard generator plant can be obtained with less maintenance without high frequency noise.
