Abstract

PURPOSE:To clog the pores in a coated layer and to enhance the corrosion resistance of the layer by forming a plurality of sprayed metallic layers on the surface of an Fe or Ni alloy and melting the surface of the outermost layer by heating. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of an Fe or Ni alloy material 2 used in the treatment of waste gas contg. corrosive components such as SO2, H2S and Cl<-> a metal 4 with a relatively low m.p. and superior adhesion to the alloy material 2 such as Zn or Al is sprayed, and the sprayed layer 4 is coated with Pb or a Pb alloy 5 with high corrosion resistance to corrosive gases such as SO2, H2S and Cl2. The surface of the coated Pb layer 5 is then remelted by heating with a burner or the like to form a molten layer 7, whereby the pores in the surface coated layer 5 are clogged to prevent the permeation of such corrosive gases. Thus, the corrosion resistance of the layer 5 is enhanced.
