Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a pitting corrosion resistant clad with superior cathodic protection effect by adding a specified amt. of Mg to an Al-Zn alloy as the skin material of a clad consisting of an Al core material and the skin material.
CONSTITUTION: A clad is manufactured using Al or an Al-Mn alloy as a core material and a 0.3W2.0 wt% Zn-contg. Al-Zn alloy as a skin material. At this time, 0.2W2.8 wt% Mg is added to the Al-Zn alloy skin material. When this clad is soldered in an inert gas atmosphere, evaporation of Zn from the skin material is controlled together with diffusion of Zn from the skin material into the core material. Accordingly, the cathodic protection effect of the skin material is not reduced, and the inner wall of a soldering furnace is prevented from being contaminated by deposition of Zn, Thus, a pitting corrosion resistant clad is obtd. Which is effectively used as raw material for a heat exchanger using water or seawater, a water supply pipe, a container, etc.
