Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase resistance to melting loss of material contacting with molten zinc, by forming a uniform nitride layer on the surface of metallic titanium. CONSTITUTION:On the surface layer of a metallic titanium material is formed a dense, uniform nitride layer by salt bath nitriding, gas nitriding, or ion nirtiding etc. This method permits manufacture of molten zinc resistant material having melting loss resistance equal to that of a Mo alloy at a low cost. This material is excellent in formability, hardly causing crack or peeling due to impulse, so that it is used extensively for various members for molten zinc.
