PURPOSE:To obtain a holding member for electrostatic images and toner images of good electrical characteristics which is uniform, is good in adhesive strength and does not cause repelling of top coating or the like by forming an insulation layer consisting essentially of a photosetting type resin and a solvent soluble type thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:In an image holding member having an insulation layer such as electrophotographic receptor, a coating soln. consisting of 0.1-20pts. a solvent soluble type thermoplastic resin such as polyvinyl butyral resin of >=4,000mol.wt. based on 100pts. a photosetting resin such as epoxy acrylate which are both dissolved in an ethyl alcohol-isopropyl alcohol mixed soln. is prepared for the insulation layer. This coating soln. is coated on a substrate or a photoconductive layer, and is allowed to set by ultraviolet exposure or the like, whereby the insulation layer is formed. In this way, the image holding member of good images which does not cause repelling and peeling of the insulation layer is obtained.
