Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance photoconductor performance and smoothness of an electrophotographic receptor by adding a polyvinyl butyral resin to a photoconductive layer.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of a binder and a proper amount of polyvinyl butyral resin is stirred and mixed in a solvent together with a photoconductor. The fluid obtained is coated on a substrate and freed of the solvent by drying to form a very smooth photoconductive layer. In the case of forming an insulating layer on this photoconductive layer, dielectric strength of the insulating layer is not deteriorated at all.
