Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent damage to a heating element with a reduced power consumption by closing a switching means only when printing signals are output while the switching means is provided between heating elements of a heat generating/recording element driving circuit and a power supply source. CONSTITUTION:When a printing signal ''1'' is output to an output terminal T1 of a CPU, a transistor TRS2 conducts and a voltage of a constant voltage circuit REG is applied to heat generating/recording elements TH1-THN. At the same time, the printing signal is provided to a transistor TR1 through an amplification circuit AMP1 and with the conducting of the transistor TR1, a current follows to the heat generating/recording element TH1 to perform a printing. In this case, only when the printing signal ''1'' is output, current flows through amplification circuits AMP1-AMPN thereby lessening power consumption. In addition, current fails to flow through heat generating elements except for the printing period regardless of breakage of the transistors TR1-TRN thereby preventing possible damage to the elements.
