Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the leak-proof characteristics of a battery by using a negative container on the surface of which, the surface is to touch with an inslating gasket, two ring plated layers of gold or gold alloy are discontinuously provided. CONSTITUTION:Gold plated layers 1a,lb with a thickness of 0.4 m are formed on a part of a negative container which part will be touched with a gasket 2, the negative container 1 comprises a three layered clad material constituted with an outside layer of nickel, a central layer of stainless steel, and an inside layer of copper, where 1a and 1b are discontiued with a ring 1c. Then negative compound 3 which contains amalgamated zinc as the main component is put in the container 1, a positive unit which is constituted with positive compound 6 which contains silver (II) oxide as the main component is combined, and the positive container 5 is calked to seal. Thus, the leakage is prevented with gold plated layers 1a,1b, amalgamated mercury which is formed through amalgamation of mercury in the negative compound 3 with the ring 1c with the gold plated layer 1b is prevented, and the leak-proof characteristics can be greatly improved.
