Abstract
PURPOSE:To save the consumption of silver solder in an economical way, by using silver solder wire and a flange with multiple convexes formed on it when sealing and joining the edge of an insulator container to a metal flange with silver solder in a vacuum. CONSTITUTION:When the edge of a container 1 made of an insulator, such as ceramic, is to be sealed and joined to a metal flange 4a with silver solder 9 in a vacuum chamber, multiple convexes are formed at a proper space on the outer fringe of the flange 4a so as to provide gaps between the flange 4a and the silver solder 9. The silver solder wire 9 and the flange 4a are put on a metalized layer 7 of a container 1, and the silver solder 9 is heated above its melting point to seal the container 1 which is being exhausted through the gaps between the convexes 10 and the silver solder 9. According to this constitution, the silver solder 9 is prevented from flowing out and its consumption is much saved by use of the silver solder 9 of a simple form.
