Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the liquid-tightness of battery by plating gold on a negative electrode terminal or negative electrode current collector sealed in a hermetic seal portion. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode terminal 21 made of nickel-plated Kovar alloy or nickel-iron alloy is fused integrally with a positive electrode upper case 23 made of nickel-plated Kovar alloy, nickel-iron alloy and iron material by a sealing material ring 22 made of borosilicate glass or ceramics to form hermetic seal portion. Within this position are provided a tray-shaped negative electrode current collector plate 25 connected to an annular insulating gasket 24 and negative electrode terminal 21 within the positive electrode upper case 23. Also, thereinafter are provided successively a negative electrode binder 26 of sublimated zinc, electrilite impregnant 7, separator 28 and positive electrode binder pellet 29 of silver oxide to be covered with a positive electrode lower case 30, both cases 23, 30 being sealingly welded. Thus, the inner surface of negative electrode current collector plate 25 making no contact with the negative electrode binder 26 is plated with a gold film 25a.
