Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the production process of a light coupling device and to reduce the size of a hybrid integrated circuit by placing a light emitting element and a photodetector in a chip shape on the same substrate of a hybrid integrated circuit. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting element 13 and a photodetector 14 formed in a chip shape are die bonded directly on a substrate 10. Thereafter, a black resin layer 20 having light shielding property is molded in the prescribed thickness on the overall surface of the substrate 10 except only the circular holes 18, 19, transparent resin is filled in slightly large quantity in the holes 18, 19, and the first and second convex lenses 23, 24 are formed. A light shielding plate 25 having holes 26, 27 are formed above the lenses. The one end of a light guide 28 is faced with the light emitting surface of the element 13 through a space 29 and the first lens 23 while being inserted into the hole 26, and the other end is faced with the photodetecting surface of the element 14 through a space 30 and the second lens 24 while being inserted into the hole 27.
