Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the high pressure or medium pressure initial moving vane of a steam turbine with superior creep strength at high temp. by adding a specified amount of W to a 12Cr-Mo-Nb-V steel and using the resulting steel as a material for the moving vane.
CONSTITUTION: A steel consisting of, by wt., 10W13% Cr, 0.15W0.30% C, 0.5W 1.0% Mn, 0.5W2.0% Mo, ≤0.6% Si, 0.2W1.0% Ni, 0.1W0.3% V, 0.3W0.7% Nb, 0.04W0.1% N, 0.5W2.5% W and the balance Fe with accompanying impurities is used as a material for a moving vane. W is required to enhance the creep strength at high temp. by strengethening the solid soln. of the alloy and strengthening the grain boundaries owing to the precipitation of stable carbide on the grain boundaries, yet <0.5% W does not suficiently produce the effect, and >2.5% W facilitates the formation of a ferrite phase and reduces the creep strength and elongation. A moving vane made of this steel has high creep rupture strength at about 600°C.
