Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the liquid-leakage resistance of an alkaline battery by providing a double sealing layer on the insulating gasket of the battery. CONSTITUTION:A positive active material 6, a separator 5, an electrolyte holding material 4 and a negative active material 3 are placed in a positive can 1. After that, a negative can 2 is placed over the material 3, with a gasket 7 interposed between the cans 1 and 2, to seal the battery, thereby constituting a button-type alkaline battery. Here, a sealing part formed between the can 2 and the gasket 7 is filled with a double sealing layer, which consists of an epoxy resin sealing agent 8 and an asphalt system sealing agent 9. The epoxy resin sealing agent 8 is preferred to be placed on the side of the gasket 7 which is made of nylon or the like. In addition, it is preferable that a mixture of blown asphalt and polybutene is used as the sealing agent 9.
