Abstract

PURPOSE:To fix an optical semiconductor which is controlled at a position having the highest optical connection efficiency to an optical fiber into a receptacle in a quick and solid way by means of a laser welding method. CONSTITUTION:A light source 6 is connected to the other end of an optical fiber 7, and a ferrule 8 is connected tightly to a housing 2 by a connection nut 9. Then the housing 2 is fixed by means of a fixing tool 10. On the other hand, a holder 5 having a semiconductor 4 fixed at the center part is attached to a control tool 11 having such constitution that can move finely toward the direction Z of the optical fiber optical axis as well as to the direction XY orthogonal to the optical axis. The tool 11 is moved finely to the direction XY to obtain the maximum indication for an ammeter 12, and a welding ring 3 is moved toward the semicondutor 4 to hit against the holder 5. Under such conditions, the welding is carried out as shown in the figure over the entire circumference between the housing 2 and the ring 3 as well as between the ring 3 and the holder 5 by means of laser beams alpha and beta.
