Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform distance transmission between a controller and an output equipment at low cost by passing the operation-state display signal and fault- state transfer signal of the output device through an AND gate, and by transmitting the AND result to the controller through a cable other than a data transmission cable. CONSTITUTION:When a printer 1 is powered up, a signal S2 goes up to a level H and while a signal S2 is at the level H when the printer has no fault, a signal S1 is at the level H when the printer is not in printing operation; and the H- level output signal S4 of an AND circuit 6 is sent to a controller 9 through a distant transmission system 7 and a cable 8. The controller 9 inputs print data DATA to a printer body 4 through a cable 10 by the signal S4, thereby performing prescribed printing operation. During the printing operation, the signal S1 is at a level L and each time one-line printing is done, it goes up from the L to H cyclically. If the printer is impaired or is powered down, the signal S2 or S3 goes down to the level L to cause the signal S4 to go down to the level L, so the controller 9 recognizes the occurrence of the fault of the printer to interrupt the tranmission of the data DATA immediately.
