Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the mass-productivity of an electrochromic display device (ECD) and make the ECD thinner by forming an inorg. porous coat on the opposite electrode of the ECD to make the insertion of a porous ceramic plate unnecessary and simplify the process.
CONSTITUTION: Display electrode 13 is formed on ECD substrate 11, WO3 film 14 on electrode 13, and insulating film 15 at the electrode guide part by the vapor deposition of SiO2 with electron beams. On the other hand, W plate 18 is anodically oxidized to form a WO3 layer, and porous inorg. adhesive 17 is applied to the layer and heat cured to form background 17. This opposite electrode 18 is set between substrate 11 and back substrate 19, and the ECD cell is assembled with adhesive 12. Electrolyte 16 is then injected and sealed to finish the cell.
