Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a cooler for strips by using a vapor-liquid mixture atomizing cooler system in which the height of a cooling tower is largely reduced and by which strips coming out of a plating bath are cooled with a high cooling efficiency. CONSTITUTION:In a cooler body 7, a gas cooling nozzle 9 and a liquid cooling nozzle 10 are provided, and the tip of the nozzle 10 is situated in the liquid-jetting zone of the nozzle 9 to form cooler groups 9 and 10 in the face of the strip 1, where the nozzle groups 9 and 10 are provided in a multistage arrangement. The nozzle groups 9 and 10 are connected to respective supply sources through a gas supply duct 9' and a liquid supply duct 10'. Also, the cooling of the strip 1 can be made by gas alone or a mixture of gas and liquid by stopping the supply of liquid to all or part of the nozzle group 10 by means of a liquid supply control valve, e.g., an electromagnetic valve 11, provided on the way of the pipe 10'. Waste gas in the cooler 7 is discharged through a duct from an exhaust port 12 to the outside.
