PURPOSE:To detect a fault point securely by carrying out the detection on the basis of the power of light incident to an optical fiber, spikes of a reflected wave, etc. CONSTITUTION:Light is sent into optical fiber 6 by pulse generator 3 and laser oscillator 4. A reflected wave from optical fiber 6 enters photodetector 7. The output of this detector 7 is amplified by amplifier 8, whose output is sent to A/D converter 9. The analog/digital conversion output of A/D converter 9 is stored in memory 10 through microprocessor 1 and fault points of optical fiber 6 are displayed on display unit 12.
