Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a highly accurate detection without using a high speed AD converter by a method wherein a pulse light is sent to an optical fiber with a given interval through a delay circuit wherein a delay time can be controlled and a reflection wave is measured sequentially by a different sampling time through a sample hold AD converter by means of a delay output of a delay circuit. CONSTITUTION:A trigger pulse TB is outputted from a programmable delay circuit 12 with an interval of 100mus to a pulse generator 13 based on a command of an MPU 1 and a pulse having a pulse width of 5ns is outputted from a laser oscillator 14 to an optical-fiber 15. A reflection wave is detected through a mirror 16 and a light detector 15 and its output passes through an amplifier 18 and is given to a sample hold AD converter 19. The AD converter 19 performs a sampling by means of a trigger pulse TD which is generated from the delay circuit 12 delaying by every 5ns and the results thereof are stored in a memory 20. Accordingly, without using a high speed AD converter, a faulty point position detection in high accuracy of 1m or more can be performed.
