Abstract
PURPOSE: To ensure safe and reliable shift to phase control operation mode by effecting the mode detection at the time of switching to this mode through the detection of the water level in a pump suction pipe, detection of input to dynamo-generator and detection of the aperture of a guide vane.
CONSTITUTION: When the operation mode is switched from pumped hydroelectric storage operation over to phase control operation, the shift to the phase control operation is effected if and only if a water level detector 16 detects that the water level in a pump suction tube 10 has become lower than a preset level, a phase control operation detection relay 27 detects that the shaft input to a dynamo-generator has become lower than a preset value and it is confirmed that a guide veil is fully closed. This has an effect of safeguarding the main machines and permitting the shift of the phase control operation to a halt to be done smoothly.
