Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the occurence of a swing phenomenon of a guide vane whose weak parts are broken by maintaining and controlling a normal guide vane at the opening required for retaining the rated rotational speed of a main machine when the weak parts are broken in the load break process of the main machine.
CONSTITUTION: When weak parts 8 are broken in the load break process of a main machine, normal guide vanes 2 are made to continue a closing operation on the basis of specifications for the closure of the guide vane at the load break. When the closure proceeds near to the non-load opening, the guide vane 2 is kept and controlled at the opening required for maintaining the rated rotational speed of the main machine by a speed governer (not shown in the figure). By this, even when the guide vane 2 whose weak parts 8 are broken rotates abruptly in the direction of closure, a water hammer occurring in a waterway system is relatively small, since other normal guide vanes 2 are open, thus the occurence of a self-exciting swing phenomenon being prevented completely and the destruction of the guide vane 2 being eliminated.
