Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to protect a generator and electric equipment of a power plant against damages, by controlling the output of the generator at a level lower than an upper-limit value even if output characteristics of a water turbine are varied.
CONSTITUTION: When an actual output value WA of a generator 5 is compared with an upper-limit output value WMAX of the generator 5 and it is detected that the former value WA has exceeded the latter value WMAX, a signal WeH related to the deviation between the above two values is added to the deviation between an actual guide-vane opening GA and an instruction value G for the final guide-vane opening. On the basis of an addition signal Ge thus obtained, output of the generator 5 is controlled in an output lowering direction by reducing the opening of guide vanes. By employing such an arrnagement, it is enabled to operate the generator 5 in th manner that its output is kept lower than the upper-limit value and to thereby protect the generator 5 and other electric apparaus against damages.
