Abstract

PURPOSE: To cope with an abnormal condition speedily and protect the equipment and machines by the method wherein the amount of pump discharge in the hydraulic iron pipe of a pump or a pump waterwheel in normal pumping operation is detected, and when this falls below a certain limiting value, the main machine is stopped, and intake and discharge gates are closed.
CONSTITUTION: At the pumping time, water in lower reservoir 9 is pumped up, by a pump or a pump waterwheel in power station 7, into intermediate reservoir 4 via discharge gate 8, intake valve 6 and hydraulic iron pipe 5, and further, it is sent to upper reservoir 1 via water path 3 and intake gate 2. The amount of pump discharge in hydraulic iron pipe 5 detected by pump discharge detector 10 is inputted to pump discharge amount comparator 11, to which a limited pump discharge amount has been given in advance, and thereby an abnormal condition in the main machine is detected. If the amount of pump discharge is below a limited value, the normal operation is checked by means of parallel condition detector 12, rotational speed detector 13 and intake valve detector 14. After this, the main machine is stopped by means of main machine stop control 15, and intake and discharge gates 2 and 8 are closed by means of intake and discharge gate controls 16 and 17. Consequently, an accident can be limited within the minimum extent, so that the power generation station, equipment and machines concerned can be protected.
