Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the write of the pattern required for the test in a memory unit in a high speed by a method wherein a pattern generating unit and a control unit are actuated synchronously.
CONSTITUTION: When a write command is issued from the pattern generating unit 21 to the control unit 22, an address set signal, a clock pulse and a data set signal are generated and a write start address is set in an address counter 28 by means of the address set signal. And further, a parallel data from the generating unit 21 are set in a data column conversion unit 29 by means of the data set signal. The conversion unit 29 is shifted with the clock pulse and outputs the input parallel data as a series data and at the same time, the counter 28 steps to a certain direction. And further, a write pulse is created from the clock pulse in a pulse generating unit 33 and a pattern memory unit 19 performs a write operation and the output of the conversion unit 29 is written by means of the content of the counter 28.
