Abstract
PURPOSE: To adjust the coupling speed and timing of a clutch in response to a travelling condition by simple constitution by mounting a control valve responding to the negative pressure of an intake pipe of an engine to an automatic clutch controller.
CONSTITUTION: An actuator 8 of an automatic clutch device worked by vacuum pressure controls a friction clutch 2 in such a manner that a negative pressure chamber 81 is connected to atmospheric pressure or vacuum pressure by means of an electromagnetic change-over valve 9 and a piston 82 is moved. A control valve 30 is mounted to a path 20 communicating a chamber 85 at the working side of the actuator 8 with the atmospheric air, and controls flow rate. A controlling actuator 40 operating the control valve 30 is connected to an intake pipe 4 of an engine, and controls the control valve 30 in response to the negative pressure of the intake pipe. When a car travels at low speed, a clutch is slowly connected because the negative pressure of the intake pipe is high; when speed is changed, the clutch is quickly connected because the negative pressure is low, and the noneffective and excessive racing of the engine is reduced.
