Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a stable engine speed, by controlling the idling engine speed by use of control parameters related to the engine temperature, On and OFF of the operation of air conditioner, etc. and through comparison of the actual engine speed with a reference idling engine speed.
CONSTITUTION: An air-flow control valve for controlling the flow of auxiliary air depending on the time period for current suppy to electromagnetic means 50 is provided in a conduit for supplying auxiliary air to engine, which bypasses throttle valve. The electromagnetic means 50 is controlled by an electrinic air-flow controlling unit 60, which comprises an engine speed detecting circuit 100 for producing a signal related to the idling engine speed, a setting circuit 200 for setting a reference idling engine speed depending on the operational condition of engine, a control circuit 300 for controlling the time period for current supply to electromagnetic means 50 so as to draw the idling engine speed near to said reference idling engine speed, and a compensation circuit 400 for operating control circuit 300 in the manner temporarily increasing the flow rate of auxiliary air when throttle valve is fully closed.
