Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate reopening of feedback control by halting feedback control when fuel-air ratio conditions are on the excessive rich side over a specified period of time and by controlling the fuel-ratio conditions to be intermittently on the excessive lean side when feedback control stop has continued for a specified period of time.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel-air ratio control is equipped with an air flow sensor 10, a water temperature sensor 11, a crank angle sensor 12, and an electronic control unit 15 which calculates an optimum fuel supply volume responding to engine operating conditions by receiving output signals from an A/F sensor 13. The system controls fuel-air ratios by adjusting the ejecting time of a fuel ejecting value through its outputs. The above-stated control performance will stop when a continuous rich signal, which indicates the fuel-air ratio conditions are on the excessive rich side, is output from the sensor 13 for a specified period or over. When noncontrol performance has continued for a specified time, the system is designed to forcefully control the fuel-air ratio to be intermittently on the excessive lean side.
