Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the control characteristics of an engine through the entire range of engine operation in which the air-fuel ratio is feedback controlled, by fixing the integration constant at a predetermined value during the normal operation of the engine but rectifying the increase and decrease characteristics by integration during transition periods of acceleration or deceleration.
CONSTITUTION: An oxygen density sensor 4 is disposed in an exhaust system 2 of an internal combustion engine 1 and its output signal is fed into a feedback control circuit 7. The circuit is also fed with output signals from an intake amount sensor 6 in an intake system 3 and from an ignition system 5, and an electronically controlled fuel injection device 8 is feedback controlled in accordance with their signals. In the circuit 7, a time constant correction circuit is incorporated, which acts to vary the integration constant of an integration circuit in accordance with the operational state of the engine, whereby, the integral constant is corrected during transition operation periods such as sudden acceleration and deceleration so as to fasten the response characteristic of the feedback control.
