Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the hysteresis of signals and reduce the delay of response by incorporating a backlash circuit into a controlling circuit of the apparatus which controls the air-fuel ratio through the feedback of the signal of an exhaust gas sensor to the intake system.
CONSTITUTION: In the exhaust pipe 13 of an internal combustion engine 10, an exhaust gas sensor 14 for detecting the concentration of exhaust gas and tertiary catalysts 15 are arranged, and the signal of the sensor 14 is feedback-treated to an actuator 19 arranged in an intake pipe 11 through a control circuit 33, and thus air-fuel ratio is set at a theoretical air-fuel ratio. In the control circuit 33, a backlash circuit 50 is incorporated which always keeps the hysteresis of signals constant, and the signal from the sensor 14 is introduced through a stabilizing circuit 40, and the signal 61 on starting is introduced through a compensation circuit 60. The signal from the circuit 50 is supplied to a deviation detector 16 and comparison- operated with a prescribed value, and then supplied to the actuator 19 through a temperature correcting circuit.
