Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the accuracy of detection of the air fuel ratio of an engine, by detecting the air fuel ratio from the composition of the exhaust gas of the engine and providing a temperature compensation circuit in a gas sensor for setting the air fuel ratio of intake mixture at a theoretical value.
CONSTITUTION: Signals are applied from an intake air quantity sensor 18 provided in the intake system of the engine 10, an opening degree sensor 19 for a throttle valve 21 and a gas sensor 17 provided in an exhaust system having a ternary catalyst to a controller 20, which controls a mixture feeder 12 by feedback. The degree of opening of the throttle valve 21 is divided to a plurality of stages. Exhaust gas temperatures are set for the stages, respectively. The degree of opening of the throttle valve 21 is applied from the sensor 19 to the controller 20 to compensate the signal from the gas sensor 17 for the exhaust gas temperature.
