Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep the air-fuel ratio always at an optimal value throughout the entire operational range of an engine, by determining a control signal of one control system from the mean value of control signals of the other control system in an airfuel ratio control system which produces a control signal from a different control system for the ordinary operation and paration operation of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: In the arrangement shown in the drawing, air-fuel ratio is controlled by producing, in a control signal producing means 6, a control signal for controlling the air-ruel ratio from output signals of an intake vacuum sensor 2 and an exhaust sensor 4, and controlling an actuator 8 for a carburetor 7 by the control signal. Here, the control signal producting means 6 is composed of a first control system which produces a control signal of a level changed with the output signal of the exhaust sensor 4 so as to feedback control the air-fuel ratio, a second control system which stops the above feedback control of the air-fuel ratio when a particular operation condidtion such as high-load operation of the engine 1 is detected and produces a fixed control signal irrelevantly of the output of the sensor 4, and a compensation means which calculates the mean value of the control signals produced from the first control system and detemines the control signal of the second control system from the above means value.
