Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform treating of evolved gas and metal vapors without degrading workability with simple equipment by providing the special sucking and exhausting devices to a welding torch.
CONSTITUTION: Conventional equipment is used for the welding equipment for both arc and plasma, and a suction nozzle 11 with a flexible wall 14 is mounted hermetically in the upper part, to the outside circumference of a shielding gas nozzle 10a in such a manner that air may be exhausted therethrough by a pump or fan 12. The exhausting device is by known techniques. Hence, the suction nozzle 11 encircles the outside circumference of the shielding gas nozzle 10a of the torch and maintains the contact with the surface of base metals 4 by its skirt type flexible wall 14, thereby shielding the nighborhood of the arc from the atmospheric air. Because of this, the toxic gas and metal vapors evolved near the arc are sucked to the outside through an exhaust port 13 by the pump or fan 12 and are thus exhausted without affecting the central arc.
