Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a fog-free copy of constant density by reducing uniform light illumination for rendering constant the trap state of electrons and holes of a photoreceptor immediately before copying in the electrophotographic method using a cadmium sulfide photoreceptor of 2 layer structure.

CONSTITUTION: In order to render constant the trap state of photoreceptor immediately before copying, a copying process comprises during one rotation of receptor 1 a pretreatment step for subjecting receptor 1 to negative polarity corona discharge from corona charger 2 and uniform light illumination as much as the light illumination on the light area at the exposure in a latent image forming step; a step for charging receptor 1 by negative polarity corona discharge of corona charger 2; a step for forming an electrostatic latent image; a toner image forming step; and an image transferring step. Increase of the uniform light illumination amount causes fog due to light fatigue on a copy, so it is necessary to reduce said amount, but in order to make the trap state constant, a light amount at least as much as that on the light area at the exposure in forming the latent image is necessary.
