Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the resistance to liquid leakage of a battery by providing a sealing part, in which a gasket is interposed, with a hydrolyzable film made of an organotitanium titanium compound having a hydrolyzable organic radical. CONSTITUTION:A positive active material 3 made of silver oxide or the like, a separator 5 and a negative active material 4 made of zinc amalgamate or the like are placed between a negative base-plate 2 and a positive base-plate 1 made of a stainless steel or the like. After that, a gasket 6 is interposed between the positive base-plate 1 and the negative base-plate 2 to hermetically seal the battery, and the whole constitutes a button-type battery. An organotitanium compound having a hydrolyzable organic radical such as tetraoctyltitanate, a mixture of the organic titanium compound with an organic silane, or the like is applied to the sealing part of such a battery. The thus applied mixture or the like hydrolyzes to form a film 7, which may be further covered with an adhesive made of an epoxy system or the like.
