Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the resistance to liquid leakage of a sealed button-type battery, by using a silicon killed steel having a silicon content of within a given range as a material for the metal case. CONSTITUTION:Generation elements 4-6 are placed in a metal case 1, before a gasket 3 is interposed between the metal case 1 and a negative sealing plate 2 to hermetically seal the battery, thus a sealed botton-type battery being constituted. In sealing the battery, the rim of the metal case 1 is curved inward by using a sealing mold to make the gasket 3 to be compressed, a tightly closed structure being obtained. The material of the metal case 1 of such a battery is a silicon killed steel whose silicon content is within a range of 0.04-0.08wt%. Consequently, variations in the compressive strength of the case can be made smaller, an appropriate sealing pressure can be maintained, and the resistance to liquid leakage of the battery can be increased.
