Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the resistance to liquid leakage of a battery by preparing an insulating gasket from a thermoplastic synthetic-resin containing a given amount of water-repellent substance. CONSTITUTION:A positive mixture 4 made of silver oxide or the like, a separator 5, an electrolyte-holding material 6 and a negative electrode 7 made of zinc are placed in a battery case 3. An insulating gasket 2 is molded and fixed around a double-walled sealing plate 1. After that, the space of the case 3 is hermetically sealed by using the sealing plate 1, and the whole constitutes a battery. The main component of the insulating gasket 2 is a thermoplastic synthetic-resin such as polamide, polyethylene or polypropylene, which is added with a water-repellent substance like paraffine. Here, the content of the water-repellent substance is adjusted to within a range of 10-20% by volume.
