Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate the incineration of the waste containing calcium of shellfish or the like, by pre-mixing the waste and pulverized coal at a weight ratio capable of keeping a calorific power for causing self-combustion, and then feeding the mixture to an incinerator.
CONSTITUTION: In incinerating a large amount of shellfish attached to a port for introducing or discharging the sea water used for cooling a condenser in a thermoelectric power plant, the shellfish is at first crushed by a crusher (not shown) and then carried into hoppers 14, 14a successively. The crushed shellfish is then sent to a mixer 17. After mixing the crushed shellfish with pulverized coal supplied from a hopper 15 in mixer 17, the mixture is sent to a hopper 20. Here, the mixing ratio of shellfish and pulverized coal is selected to be, for instance, 5:1 so that the mixture has a calorific power capable of causing self-combustion, taking the calorific values of shellfish and pulverized coal into account. Mixture in hopper 20 is introduced into a fluidized furnace 1 by a feeder 21 for combustion therein. Resultantly, shellfish is decomposed from CaCO3 to CaO and made to float at the top of the fluidized bed and to overflow into a hopper 28 from a chute 27.
