Abstract

PURPOSE: To melt cinders as they are at high temperature and reduce waste of heat by feeding the cinders from a stoker furnace to the shaft portion of a melting type afterburner by means of a conveyer device which is sealed and fitted with a water cooling trough.
CONSTITUTION: The trash A charged from a hopper 30 is burnt in a burning stoker 32. The cinders B including unburnt bodies drop into a conveyer 9 surrounded by a water cooling through 10 of a conveyer device 8. The dry ash B thus conveyed is charged into the shaft portion 1 of a melting device, stored there for a while, pushed out by a pusher 12, and fed to a melting chamber 2 while being compressed. This constitution reduces the amount of cinders in the same manner as an upright melting-burning furnace, and ensures reduced elution of heavy metals (owing to the form of sludge). This equipment can be constructed by a little modification of a conventional stoker type incinerator.
