Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover a combustible gas from animal feces by a method wherein the feces is formed into pellets containing a proper amount of water so that solid layer is formed and the lower layer is combusted.
CONSTITUTION: The feces pellets is charged from an inlet 8 and the lowest layer is ignited and a fan 10 is operated. As a result, carbon dioxide gas, other combusted gas and heated air rise from the lowest layer and a temperature gradient is formed which decreases from the lower layer 12 to the upper layer. Near the intermediate layer, the state of dry-distillation occurs. Generated methane gas passes through gas- collecting pipe 11, a tar-separating unit 17, and a water-separating unit 18, and is recovered. By combusting the lowest layer, each of the upper layer 14, intermediate layer 13, and lower layer 12 is developed into a state that is easy to generate methane gas.
