Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the arc shielding properties, melt sticking resistnace and hardly dissipative property of a contact material by dispersing a specified amout of Cu particles in the Ag matrix and adding a small amount of one or more kinds of transition metals selected from Fe, Co and Ni.
CONSTITUTION: By slowly cooling an Ag-Cu alloy contg. one or more kinds of transition metals selected from Fe, Co and Ni from a high temp., fine Cu particles are dispersed in the Ag matrix. Thus, 1W5wt% Cu particles are added to the Ag matrix in a dispersed state together with ≤1wt% at least one of the transition metals. The resulting contact material has superior performance, and since it is free from Cd harmful to the human body, no problem occurs in manufacture and use.
