Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the melt sticking resistance and hardly dissipative property by adding prescribed amounts of the carbide of a metal belonging to the IVa, Va or VIa group in the periodic table, graphite, an Fe group metal and Ag and by dispersing the carbide in the Fe group metal and Ag.
CONSTITUTION: This electrical contact material consists of, by weight, 5W70% carbide of a metal belonging to the IVa, Va or VIa group in the periodic table, 1W11% graphite, 5W60% Fe group metal and the balance Ag. Said carbide is the carbide of ≥1 kind of metal selected from W, Mo, Ta, Nb, Ti and Cr, and the Fe group metal is ≥1 kind of metal selected from Ni, Fe and Co. The carbide is dispersed in the Fe group metal and Ag. Thus, the melt sticking resistance and hardly dissipative property are enhanced.
